Law 792: Legal Research with Writing Practice (Graduate Students)
The Advanced Legal Research with Writing Practice course is designed to allow interested LLM students to further expand their general legal research knowledge and writing skills. The course will cover the following topics: Basic legal sources and research refresher; Online searching skills (Boolean logic, advanced natural language searching); Advanced Lexis and Westlaw (Citation analysis, specialized databases); and Cost-effective use of print and online sources. Students will also write memos and research reports and will receive feedback on their writing.
Sequence and Prerequisites: Law 500
Evaluation: Students will be graded on four short research assignments, classroom participation, and a final exam.
