Law 792: Public Sector Labor Law
A far greater percentage of employees are collectively represented in the public sector than in the private sector. This course will examine the public setting, with what is so different about it. It will focus first on the constitutional rights of public employees. Using Illinois as a case in point, it will then explore how collective representation plays out on the field, with a special emphasis on dispute resolution, i.e., strikes and arbitration, and how it comports with the political matrix of public sector decision-making.
Sequence and Prerequisites: None.
Evaluation: Final administered examination.
