Marc J. Ansel

Adjunct Professor


Professor Ansel maintains a private law practice in Champaign and is a 1974 graduate of the College of Law. He also holds a Bachelor of Science with honors from the University of Illinois. Professor Ansel has served as a representative to the general assembly of the Illinois Bar Association, and as a member of the inquiry board of the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission. He served a six-year appointment (2009-14) by the Illinois Supreme Court as a member of the Character and Fitness Committee of the Illinois Board of Admissions for the Bar. He participates in the University of Illinois’ Chinese Executive Leadership Program by presenting to Chinese executives on the structure of American government.

Professor Ansel’s practice is limited to civil litigation, with a concentration in business and commercial litigation. He has appeared in state and federal courts throughout Illinois and has handled appeals at all levels, including appearing before the United States Supreme Court.

He has taught in the trial advocacy program at the College of Law since 2001.
