Katie Bethke, JD

While I made sure to put enough time and energy into my academics, getting to know my classmates and future legal colleagues was an important part of my 1L year.

By putting myself in different organizations and taking on leadership roles, I was able to gain valuable leadership skills as well as strengthen relationships and create new ones by being involved with the law school. Officially and unofficially, I immersed myself within the College of Law and was very active in getting to know students, professors, deans, and alumni. This has not only been invaluable to learn more about what classes to take, 1L summer positions, and firms, but also has begun to build my Chicago network before my legal career even begins.
