David V. Dorris has been presented the Alumni Achievement Award from Blackburn College. Dorris graduated from the college, located in Carlinville, in 1969. He went on to receive a law degree from the University of Illinois. The award is presented each year to an alum for significant achievement in professional and public service. Dorris has served in a number of professional leadership positions, including as president of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. He also served as a trustee for the University of Illinois. He continues to practice law in Bloomington at the Dorris Law Firm, P.C.
