Adjunct Professor

About

Professor Kolb is a Senior Staff Attorney at Land of Lincoln Legal Aid, formerly Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation, Inc. She began at Land of Lincoln in 1999, and has been licensed to practice law in Illinois since 1999. She represents low-income clients in all aspects of litigation, and focuses her practice in the area of family law, concentrating in domestic violence-related family law. She handles primarily orders of protection, divorces, parentage cases, civil no contact orders and stalking no contact orders. She regularly trains attorneys in various aspects of family law and domestic violence, both at the in-house and local bar association level as well as at the statewide level for the Illinois State Bar Association. She has served on the Illinois State Bar Association Family Law Section Council for ten years and was appointed Secretary of the Section Council for the 2018-2019 year, Vice Chair for the 2019-2020 year and Chair for the 2020-2021 year. She has published numerous articles in the ISBA Family Law Section newsletter.  She is also active in several local bar associations.

Professor Kolb is particularly passionate about giving a voice to the disenfranchised members of our society and has dedicated her career to lifting up survivors of violence. This all began when she enrolled in a domestic violence clinic at SIU School of Law as 3L under the supervision of Sheila Simon. Little did she know, that one semester would begin a lifelong career in fighting for domestic violence survivors. She has worked tirelessly as part of her service to the Illinois State Bar Association to advocate for low-income individuals and survivors of violence, including working to ensure the statutory law does not further marginalize certain communities.
