Shoba Pillay is an assistant U.S. attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois. Pillay is currently assigned to the National Security and Cybercrimes Section of the Criminal Division, and has experience prosecuting matters involving cybercrime, terrorism, narcotics and gangs, human trafficking, child exploitation, healthcare fraud, and mortgage fraud. She has taken 13 cases to trial and argued 6 cases before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

Before joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office in March 2010, Pillay was a litigation associate in the Boston and Chicago offices of Greenberg Traurig, LLP where she handled white collar criminal defense matters and a wide variety of complex commercial litigation involving securities, intellectual property, real estate, employment, and general business disputes. Pillay is a graduate of Boston College School of Law (2003) and Washington University (1998). She is also an adjunct professor at Northwestern University School of Law.
