Law 792: Federal Agricultural Law In the Nutrition and Food Law Space: How It Impacts What We Eat and Who Eats
The goal of this course is to provide a general understanding of Nutrition and Food Law and Policy from the perspective of the programs of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
This course will look at issues from practitioner’s perspective:
- How USDA approaches the challenges of regulating the parts of the food supply under its jurisdiction;
- How USDA approaches the challenges of addressing food insecurity; and
- How USDA approaches working with other Federal and state and tribal agencies and governments that are involved in regulating the food supply and addressing food insecurity.
By the end of the course, students will have a better understanding of what is Federal Nutrition and Food Law and how it fits into the Federal Agricultural Law context. While this course will build on some of the principles discussed in the Spring 2026 course Law 792: Introduction to Federal Agricultural Law and the Forces that Shape It and Agricultural Policy, students who have not taken this course will have no trouble engaging this course. Any overlapping topics will be sufficiently reviewed.
