Law 603: Torts
This course deals with the law of civil wrongs. The various bases of tort liability will be studied, including negligence, intentional torts, and strict liability. Although coverage will vary from section to section and from year to year, specific topics may include intentional torts such as battery, assault, and false imprisonment; negligence and the concept of reasonable care; the concept of duty; liability for emotional and economic harm; causation; limits on liability; contributory and comparative fault and assumption of risk; liability for abnormally dangerous activities, and an introduction to damages.
Sequence and Prerequisites: Required in the first year for JD students.
