About

Ben Horton is the inaugural Stanton Fellow at the University of Illinois College of Law’s First Amendment Clinic. Prior to law school, Ben worked in education and was inspired to go to law school by the complex free expression issues that arose on campuses during the 2016 presidential election. During law school, he focused on free expression and election issues, participating in several clinics and interning for the Center for Democracy and Technology during his second summer. After law school, Ben spent a year with Free Speech For People, an election litigation nonprofit, and two years clerking in the District of Massachusetts.

Ben earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and Philosophy from Skidmore College, a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from Boston College, and Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School.
