About

Colleen Ramais holds two bachelor’s degrees in Economics and French from the University of Illinois. After spending two years in Belgium, where she taught English and earned a master’s degree in French-English translation from the University of Liège, she returned to Champaign and earned her JD (summa cum laude) from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2010.

A former law clerk for Chief Justice Rita B. Garman of the Illinois Supreme Court and for Magistrate Judges David G. Bernthal and Eric I. Long of the Central District of Illinois, she currently works as a federal public defender for the Central District of Illinois in Urbana, concentrating in appellate work. Colleen lives in Champaign with her husband and four children.
