Recruiting Guidelines

Guidelines Applicable to 2L and 3L Students

  1. Offers should be made in writing with all material terms and conditions of employment clearly expressed.
  2. Students are permitted to hold a maximum of three offers at any given time.
  3. Offers should remain open for at least 14 days from the date the written offer is transmitted.
  4. Employers are encouraged to grant reasonable requests for extensions of the above-referenced deadlines.

Guidelines Applicable to 1L Students

  1. Employers may begin soliciting applications from College of Law students on or after November 1, 2022.
  2. Offers should be in writing with all material terms and conditions of employment clearly expressed.
  3. Summer employment offers should remain open for at least 14 days from the date the written offer is transmitted.
  4. Employers are encouraged to grant reasonable requests for extensions of the above-referenced deadlines.

IMPORTANT NOTE: 

An employer may deviate from these Guidelines if it provides its offer deadline policy in writing to Greg Miarecki at the Office of Career Planning and Professional Development (miarecki@illinois.edu) no later than 24 hours before extending an offer to the student. We ask that as a courtesy you also notify the student, at the time of the callback interview, of any deviations from these Guidelines.
