Honor Moore ’14
Attorney, Illinois Appellate Court, First District
I participated in the University of Illinois College of Law’s Fellowship Program as a fellow at the City of Chicago Torts Department. It was a fantastic experience.
I was given my own case load, which allowed me to jump right in to writing motions, arguing in court, and taking and defending depositions. All along the way I was supported and mentored by the other attorneys there. Through the fellowship program, I was able to develop the practical legal skills that employers are looking for while also having the flexibility to explore other professional opportunities. Midway through my fellowship, I was hired as a law clerk in the Illinois Appellate Court. The practical understanding of tort law and civil procedure that I gained by working for the City has been extremely useful in my current position. In addition, if in the future my career path involves litigation, the experience I had at the City is invaluable.
