Assistant Corporation Counsel, City of Chicago Department of Law
I participated in the municipal law fellowship program with the City of Chicago’s Law Department.
I was assigned to the Federal Civil Rights Litigation division, which represents city employees in alleged civil rights violations. While on the fellowship, I participated in all stages of litigation — from initial client contact to successfully defending clients in two federal jury trials. I was subsequently hired as an Assistant Corporation Counsel with that division.
As anyone interested in government work knows, the hiring process is lengthy, and offers are not usually made until after you are licensed. This fellowship bridged the gap between graduation and my start date, while allowing me to gain invaluable hands-on experience.
