Intellectual Property and Technology Law

The Intellectual Property and Technology Law Program serves as the home for teaching and research about intellectual property and technology law at the College of Law and for the greater University of Illinois campus. Under its auspices, the Program offers almost two dozen courses, taught by more than a dozen full time and adjunct faculty. Program students have gone on to work for AmLaw 100 law firms, public interest organizations, government agencies, and as federal and state law clerks, including the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the nation’s top “patent court.” The Program is also home to the student-run Journal of Law, Technology & Policy, a scholarly publication dedicated to “new technologies that raise important policy questions in both foreign and domestic jurisdictions.” The Program also puts on a variety of programming throughout the academic year, including monthly lunchtime talks from intellectual property scholars around the world, and the Intellectual Property Reading Group, an informal, cross-campus scholarly collective that meets to discuss recent developments in intellectual property theory.
