Assistant Dean for Admissions and Financial Aid
JD, University of Illinois College of Law
Dean Ray joined Illinois Law in fall 2012. Before joining the College of Law, Rebecca worked as an associate at Barack Ferrazzano Kirschbaum & Nagelberg LLP in Chicago, where she practiced in the areas of general and commercial civil litigation before federal courts, state courts, and administrative agencies. Her clients included Audi of America, Louis Vuitton North America, Sephora USA, and Volkswagen Group of America. Previously, Rebecca worked as an associate at Sidley Austin LLP in Chicago. Rebecca received her J.D. summa cum laude and Order of the Coif in 2004 from the College of Law, where she served as the managing editor of the University of Illinois Law Review. She received her B.A. summa cum laude from Illinois Wesleyan University.
Associate Director of Admissions
Suzanne began her career with the College of Law in 2005 as the Assistant Director for Academic Affairs. In 2007, she assumed the position of Assistant Director of Admissions, and then Associate Director for Admissions in 2012. A lifelong resident of Central Illinois, Suzanne received her associate’s degree from Parkland College, bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University, and master’s degree from the University of Illinois. Suzanne travels extensively in the fall to recruitment fairs and forums; is responsible for counseling prospective law students; marketing to prospective and admitted students; reading applications; and event management for two spring admitted student open houses.
Associate Director of Financial Aid
Julie Griffin is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the financial aid process for College of Law students, understanding loan consolidation and repayment processes, and addressing any other financial concerns. Prior to joining the College of Law, Julie was a student financial aid administrator for the main campus office for eight years, served on various committees, and worked briefly in Student Affairs. Julie earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology and her master’s degree in educational policy studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
