The St. Louis Business Journal has recognized Husch Blackwell attorney Aleks O. Rushing as a member of the publication’s 2019 30 Under 30 class. The annual award series honors “future leaders of the region and the local business community.” The 30 members of the 2019 class were chosen from nearly 300 nominations. After studying at the Illinois Program in Law, Behavior, and Social Science at the University of Illinois College of Law, Dr. Kanok has been associated with Thailand Court of Justice where he drafts and reviews court decisions and orders for justices in the areas of bankruptcy and business reorganization. Dr. Kanok earned a bachelor of laws degree from Chulalongkorn University and master of laws degrees from New York University and the University of Chicago, before receiving his doctorate from the University of Illinois. Dr. Kanok has written extensively on consumer, business, and international bankruptcy as well as foreign court and case management.

Wine and Spirits Distributors of Illinois announced it has appointed Jeremy Kruidenier, Vice Executive Director of WSDI, to also serve as General Counsel to the executive leadership team. In this expanded role, Kruidenier will continue to lobby and advocate for the regulatory and legislative issues of WSDI members and provide legal expertise.

Since entering the position as Vice Executive Director in August 2015, Kruidenier has represented WSDI in front of the Illinois Liquor Control Commission, the Illinois General Assembly and various units of local government.

Assistant Professor Gipson Rankin teaches in the fields of torts, constitutional law, family law, and race and the law. Gipson Rankin’s research is centered on the law and its impact on the Black American community, particularly in the areas of technology and family dynamics. At The University of New Mexico, Gipson Rankin has served as associate dean for Curriculum and Program Development in University College and as a senior lecturer in Africana Studies. In 2018, she was honored as a Woman of Influence, by Albuquerque Business First and is a former president of the New Mexico Black Lawyers Association. She has served on state-wide higher education committees and regularly presents on her research at universities, civil rights and public policy conferences.

Daniel Goldfaden played a crucial role in receiving a jury verdict of $4.1 million on behalf of an 85-year-old woman injured in a nursing home when her medications were mismanaged. The verdict is record breaking as the highest Illinois Nursing Home Care Act verdict since 2006, when our firm obtained a $2.9 million dollar Nursing Home Care Act verdict.
